It was hard to walk at some points- there we SO many people! but we found a great parking space - right in front of the Red Cross building and right next to DAR Constitution Hall
It was cool to see all the different trees - as well as the trains that they had all around the big tree - my guess would be at least a dozen little villages, and then a bigger one that went the whole way around the tree.
It was fun - we then drove up to the capital & checked out their tree - it was mostly blue (from what we could see) but it was too far to walk & there wasn't any parking near-by enough either - so sorry- no pics of that. But we were quite surprised at how many cops there were - it seemed like there was one on every street corner - but I guess being the Holiday season there are lots of drunk drivers & visitors to look out for. The other incredible this is that we didn't get lost!!! We always get lost when we go to DC... even the day that Caleb asked me to marry him - we spent a hour driving around trying to figure out where we were (we passed through China Town before finally making it back to the Lincoln Memorial)
So all in all it was a wonderful night! The girls did GREAT - even though it was long past their bed-times!
The funniest thing happened that night! We had just driven by the capital christmas tree when Abby & Kaylee started ROARing this continued the whole way back to the GW Parkway. At one point we thought we could help it stop by playing the radio - WGTS 91.9 had christmas music going non-stop since thanksgiving so we thought that could be a good option. So we turn it on - Amy Grant's "Silent Night" is playing and the car quiets down...Siiilenttt Niiiiight. Hooooooolllly Niiiiiihgt. Aalllll is caaaallllllmmm, aaalllll is ROoOoOoAaAaAaRrRrRrRr
It worked for a while - but not long. Well at the vert least we had a great time being tourists & have a hilarious memory too!
